My parents back in Michigan (bumpkins) used clotheslines when I was a kid and still do now (energy efficient, clothes that feel and smell nice). No need to create a false dichotomy!

I don’t understand people who don’t like using a washing line. Better for the purse and better for the planet. Plus nothing smells nicer that line-freshness

I wish I had a backyard so I could do that! I hang what I can on a folding rack in my tub, but it’s so humid it takes things forEVER to dry so it’s mostly just knits and delicates. One of these days I’ll have a proper clothesline! =)

That’s exactly how things are in England too. and I agree about the towels. Although I air dry them until they’re just a little damp, then finish them off in the drier. I also gave up using fabric softener a while back…and wow what a difference, especially with my towels.

My clothes feel *so* much nicer already. It’s actually really relaxing too watching washing blow in the breeze, takes me back home.

im actually surprised that it’s not “normal” over there. nothing here goes in the drier until it’s too cold to dry clothes outside ! i guess it’s just a european thing. (oh! except towels… i HATE sun-dried towels)

Hi there, girl. I agree with the clothes line. I had one when my kids were small. Now it’s gone. I used to love hanging clothes outside. It was lots of fun.
