DrMrNin calls this ‘bumpkinish’. I call it energy efficient.
Once again it’s a windy day here in the bay. A perfect day blow dry my washing in the fresh northerly wind. I grew up with a washing line back in England and having one here now in my own back garden makes our house feel that little bit more like a home. Plus it’s a lot cheaper and better for my clothes than throwing them in the tumble drier xx

Hi there, girl. I agree with the clothes line. I had one when my kids were small. Now it’s gone. I used to love hanging clothes outside. It was lots of fun.

im actually surprised that it’s not “normal” over there. nothing here goes in the drier until it’s too cold to dry clothes outside ! i guess it’s just a european thing. (oh! except towels… i HATE sun-dried towels)

That’s exactly how things are in England too. and I agree about the towels. Although I air dry them until they’re just a little damp, then finish them off in the drier. I also gave up using fabric softener a while back…and wow what a difference, especially with my towels.

nope there’s nothing like line-dried laundry. Am happy to be a bumpkin in that case!

My clothes feel *so* much nicer already. It’s actually really relaxing too watching washing blow in the breeze, takes me back home.

I wish I had a backyard so I could do that! I hang what I can on a folding rack in my tub, but it’s so humid it takes things forEVER to dry so it’s mostly just knits and delicates. One of these days I’ll have a proper clothesline! =)

I don’t understand people who don’t like using a washing line. Better for the purse and better for the planet. Plus nothing smells nicer that line-freshness

Hurray! So glad to see you’re line drying – it really is the best! x

My parents back in Michigan (bumpkins) used clotheslines when I was a kid and still do now (energy efficient, clothes that feel and smell nice). No need to create a false dichotomy!

Oh, I put him right! He actually hung washing out himself this morning. And the day before yesterday. He’s converted :p
