Whilst out with a friend yesterday in the sizzling 103˚F heat, we both commented with excitement about the projected 30˚F drop in temperature that was forecast for today. I’ve looked forward to this ever since I saw it on weather.com ten days ago and OH MY GOODNESS IT FEELS GOOD. Grey skies, clouds and no need for air conditioning. Nicole even needed a jacket for her early evening walk. As I type this, I’m sitting in a woolly jumper (that’s British for ’sweater’, by the way) having just eaten a mini apple pie and I couldn’t be happier, squee! Time for Autumn crafts. Time to break out the knitting, I think.

Last night we went to our Realtor’s client appreciation party. It was a complete hoot and we won some great things in the play-money auction- sadly we were a good few thousand moolah short of a trip to Mexico but we got some nice serving dishes and a fabulous sushi set. This year’s fancy dress theme was ‘A Little Bit Country’. Oliver went as a cow.

What was that? You want to see another picture? Oh go on then…

boatride SE ACR + PW70s

Friday could not have come soon enough. This past week has been exceptionally busy, plus on top of that Baby Oliver Peach has been having yet *another* growth spurt leaving me exhausted from all the physical demands of feeding. I literally slept away much of Wednesday and Thursday, not by choice, but by necessity. But on the plus side, my baby pudge is finally falling off and all of a sudden I’m now just a little over 2 lb away from my pre-pregnancy figure. Hurrah! Anyway, back to tonight… what better way to end the week than with a gentle evening boatride, followed by a dinner of fish and chips and then ‘Top Gear’ on the telly. We even caught a bit of Jonathan Ross too. Yay for BBC America!

Here’s hoping that BOP will sleep through night again soon- for the past few days he’s started waking up at 4am, hungry and in need of a change. Tonight before sleepytime he took a whole ten ounces of breastmilk from a bottle within the space of an hour so I’m quietly optimistic.

***edited to add***
It’s 4.30 am. BOP is souuuuuuund asleep but I still had to get up anyway to pump out my rock-hard  torpedo boobs. UGH!

moleskine 3

A year ago today I boarded a plane and waved goodbye to Jolly Ol’ England. It became normal for me to drive on the wrong side of the road, watch ‘Good Morning America’ instead of ‘GMTV’ and snack on cookies instead of biscuits. Today marks my one year anniversary of moving to California. Whilst in many respects it’s beginning to feel like home, at the same time it still feels like I’m just settling in. But nothing is new any more. From tomorrow when I start a sentence with “A year ago” it will be something that happened whilst living in California.
