Too much time spent having fun with my family to write any words, but the pictures say a lot of it by themselves….

Happy Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful time spreading merry cheer with your loved ones.

We’ve had a lovely time so far, including sharing some very special news with the rest of my family……

Yes, I’M PREGNANT! We’re due on June 9th next year which makes me already about four months along. The ultrasound above was taken at the beginning of the month when I was about 13 weeks. Since then the baby has grown a lot and is now just over five inches long!

Day 217

Chilly temperatures have descended over the Bay this week so I had to wrap up snuggly to venture into the city. The biggest Earth Sciences conference of the year has come once again to San Francisco so there’s lots of data to present, co-authors to meet up with, presentations to sit through and friends to catch up with (that’s the best part). Busy times ahead for the next few days…

Day 216

Things I discovered today:

1) My greencard isn’t acceptable as a proof of ID at the bank because a) although it was a card with green writing on it stating that I had permission to reside and work in the US, they wanted it to actually have the word GREENCARD written on it, and b) the fingerprint scanned onto the front underneath my photograph, and the laser-embedded holographic microfilm on the back with all my information on it was apparently not as good as a signature. Hmm.

2) Autumn comes late to the lands east of San Francisco. The vineyards up there are currently blazing in crimson glory and it looked spectacular.

3) I thought I didn’t like artichoke hearts on pizza, but I don’t mind them after all.

4) The Wordpress 2.7 upgrade is so different it’s quite a culture shock.

4) The location of my misplaced hairdryer (hooray!)

An easy night tonight spent in front of the TV in my onsesie, watching The Parent Trap (a long-time favourite). It’s going to be a busy week ahead, with lots of old friends in town…

Day 215

Easy day today… sleeping in until just before noon, brunch with friends, and then an afternoon snuggled on the couch watching TV. By the time the evening came, nobody was really in the mood to cook so Filmchris introduced us to his favourite local burger joint.

Satisfyingly retro inside…

With a plethora of condiments and dressings to choose from.

I had a fish burger and freshly cut fries. Yumm. I can definitely see us going there again :D
